Landscaping Workwear

Grounds maintenance and landscaping means working outdoors in all conditions - early starts in the cold, wet mornings on site, and long days on your feet in summer. Your workwear needs to handle all of it. That's why 3Q Workwear have put together our recommended landscaping workwear range, built for people who work outside for a living.

Whether you need a waterproof layer for wet weather, hi-vis for roadside work, or breathable base layers for the warmer months, this range covers what landscapers and grounds teams actually wear on the job.

What to Look for in Landscaping Workwear

Outdoor work means your clothing earns its keep every day. A few things make the difference:

  • Weatherproof outerwear that handles rain without overheating when you're working hard
  • Breathable base layers - t-shirts and polos that wick moisture on warm days
  • Beanie hats and caps for year-round head protection - often overlooked, always needed
  • EN ISO 20471 compliant hi-vis for any roadside, public space, or site work that requires it
  • A layering system that works across seasons - fleece mid-layer, waterproof outer, and a base underneath

Frequently asked questions

What workwear do landscapers need?
Day to day it's a polo or t-shirt, a decent outer layer, and trousers tough enough to handle kneeling, kicking through undergrowth, and general outdoor abuse. Hi-vis gets added whenever you're near roads or on a public contract. Headwear matters more than most people budget for - a good beanie or cap makes a long outdoor day significantly more bearable.
Do landscapers need hi-vis workwear?
Not always, but often. Roadside verge maintenance, public park contracts, and any work near vehicle access routes will typically require EN ISO 20471 compliant hi-vis. Class 2 is the standard minimum for most grounds maintenance environments. If you're working under a local authority or highways contract, the PPE requirements will usually be set out in the contract terms.
What jacket is best for landscaping?
It depends on the time of year. For wet weather the Regatta X-Pro Waterproof shell (Class 2 hi-vis rated) is a practical choice that handles most conditions. For cold but dry days the Craghoppers Morley Fleece works well as a mid-layer or standalone. For winter the Portwest hi-vis winter jacket covers both warmth and visibility in one garment.
What EN standards apply to landscaping workwear?
For hi-vis, EN ISO 20471 is the main standard - Class 2 for most grounds and roadside environments, Class 3 if you're on or immediately adjacent to live traffic. General workwear for landscaping doesn't carry a mandatory EN standard, but EN ISO 13688 covers basic protective clothing performance. If your contract specifies PPE requirements, those will take precedence.
