Understanding Hi-Vis Classes – EN ISO 20471

High-visibility clothing in the UK is certified to EN ISO 20471, which sets three classes based on how much fluorescent and reflective material a garment carries. Class 1 is the lowest coverage (often used in lower-risk areas), Class 2 covers vests and polos for general site and roadside work, and Class 3 offers the highest visibility – typically jackets and trousers for high-speed roads and low-light conditions.
