Hi-vis is a condition of entry on most construction sites, so factor that in from the start. Beyond that it's about layering for the season and having enough pockets to stay organised on site.

On most sites, yes. Hi-vis is a standard condition of entry for construction environments, covering both groundwork and above-ground trades. EN ISO 20471 Class 2 is the minimum for most construction sites - check your site induction or method statement if you're not sure what's required. For heavier use the Tradesman Trousers are worth a look. If your trade involves a lot of kneeling - groundwork, tiling, or similar - it's worth checking whether the specific trouser has reinforced knees, as not all in this range do.

For hi-vis, EN ISO 20471 covers the classification system - Class 2 is the standard minimum for most construction environments, Class 3 for work near live traffic. General workwear doesn't carry a mandatory EN standard for construction, but EN ISO 13688 sets a baseline for protective clothing performance. Any site with specific PPE requirements will set those out in the site rules.
